What’s behind this idea?

Exploration. Personal freedoms. Adventures. Growth. A love for all things animal, mineral, vegetable. Experiences. Intentions. Happiness. Jumping in puddles. Rain drops on faces. Sunshine and ice.
Get out. Get wild. Get free.

Life is a collection of experiences strung together in wild paths that paint a beautiful picture. Make yours full of colors, textures, scents, tastes, smiles, laughter, and awe.

Growing Wild and Free is an idea born out of a desire to give my daughter a life of experiences like I had as a child on my grandparents’ farm each summer. We were a little feral. Always dirty. Barefoot. Free. Finding our way through the garden, across fields and ponds, up trees, down in the dirt, and under the stars. This is an adventure club and Montessori-based nature school for kids and families of all ages. You’re never too grown up to play.

What we offer.

Skill building.

Wanting to be outdoors more but not sure where to start? Want to take the kids on some adventures and looking for guidance on how to keep them safe? We help kids and families grow their outdoor skills while building confidence in their abilities. Topics range from what to pack on a hike, basic outdoor first aid for everyone, plant identification, building fires, camping basics, cooking over a fire, etc.

Outdoor adventures.

Let’s get out! We explore and play in the natural areas all around us from local parks and nature preserves, to state parks, and beyond. You may be surprised by what your neighborhood offers.

Nature art.

We love to get creative. Study the colors, shapes, and textures of things all around us. Reimagine and repurpose objects found in nature to create beautiful art. We’ll be drawing, coloring, painting, building, creating collages, and other fun and inspiring crafts.
